In June 2022, the government is expected to be able to use mobile networks to send mass alerts to citizens in the event of emergencies such as major disasters or catastrophes.

This is established by the European Electronic Communications Code, which sets this date as the deadline for implementing the deployment.

The public alert system is intended to be used in the event of major disasters and imminent or ongoing emergencies. The draft General Telecommunications Law also provides for the intervention in exceptional cases of services such as WhatsApp or Telegram for the purpose of transmitting messages.
